| I think that one of the proudest moments for a teacher or a parent is when your child has learned and acted to give something back to society. That moment for me came today when my K-2 students asked me if they can send something to the elephants in conservation parks after we have reviewed “Horton Hears a Who” (of course!) and discussed the importance of elephant conservation in Thailand. After all, the elephant is the symbol of the country we are living in! We’ve written to the Save Elephant Foundation in Chiang-Mai. The kids have coloured soft pastel paintings of elephants and each contributed to what the letter says. We are anticipating a reply from the foundation, but I’ve reminded my kids to not be too disappointed if they get a slow reply. The people working at the foundation are very busy people! |
P.S. I’m very excited to have been able to sneak letter writing practice into today’s lesson.
