As we are currently in the first week of Reading Awareness Month, the K-2 students are working very hard to develop reading fluency and literacy. One of the books the students have been assigned to read this week is “We Can Go.” “We Can Go” talks about the different places you can go while reading a book – i.e. the North Pole, deserts, mountains, and the Moon. The kids and I have also engaged in an interactive activity to help emphasize the endless possibilities of being able to read (and write). | |
I’ve shown the kids many places in the world on Google Earth. We’ve traveled to Vancouver, Hong Kong, London, Paris and much more! We’ve also “traveled” to Mars and the Moon together during the activity. This activity is meant to help develop passion for learning and reading. The kids have really enjoyed the activity and we are determined to make Reading Awareness Month a memorable one!
