K-3: M is for Mo Willems I have used Mo Willems' Elephant and Piggie books to teach SBI students character education this week. Character education is a hallmark of teaching young children right from wrong. We have covered the following topics in our Reading classes this week:
| Pre-K: m IS FOR mOUSE In order to help our Pre-K students develop strong motor skills and skilful letter recognition, Ms. Pond and I have worked with our preschoolers to design a Letter M Mouse project to go along with our book of the week: "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" by Laura Joffe Numeroff. The children have coloured their mice and cookies with the colours of their choice. Afterwards, I set to work on cutting and gluing the final pieces together. The children loved the activity and the activity further strengthened their understanding of the storybook and recognition of the letter M. After reading a total of six books from the Elephant and Piggie series by Mo Willems, the K-3 students were given a few minutes to brainstorm and write down suggestions on how to be a good friend.
