The K-2 and K-3 students have been introduced to a new Dr. Seuss character this week: The Lorax. Our classroom discussions and activities will be based "The Lorax" by Dr. Seuss for the entire month of April. Since April 22 is Earth Day, all of the teachers at SBI are busy preparing our students to become more aware the following terms: recycle, conservation, global warming, and pollution. |
| While the K-3 students will be learning how to read "The Lorax" this month, I've read the book to the K-2 students. After story time, the kids were asked some questions on what they think about the story. They were also asked for ways in which they can help contribute positively to the environment. We've also talked about the importance of trees and what trees need to grow (sun, water, air, and soil). If the water is polluted, the trees, animals, and humans will suffer. The same goes for the air and soil (the land). We've also talked about how excessive gas emissions destroy our ozone layer. This |
occurrence contributes to global warming - a very big problem in many parts of the world. It is very important for the students at SBI to realise that everyday - not just April 22, 2015 - is Earth Day. We need to be positive contributors to our Earth! We are looking for more ideas and suggestions on how to celebrate Earth Day 2015 at Sabai-Jai International Kindergarten School. Please feel free to submit your ideas via this blog, the school's Facebook page, or to any of the teachers and administration staff at SBI. Thank-you! |
