| We've taken a break from Dr. Seuss this week (HOORAYYYY FOR ALL OF US ADULTS!!!!) and have read Eric Carle's "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" today. The children have followed the story by arranging their flashcards on the table in the correct order. The flashcards are meant to help them review their numbers, days of the week, and names of food. By having the children actively participate during the reading, they will learn how to simultaneously become active listeners and readers. For the rest of this week and the next, the children and I will be working on writing our own picture book in the style of Eric Carle's "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" as part of our class's Writing Project. I've received suggestions from the class to name the book "The Very Hungry K-2 Class." I think that it sounds quite catchy. Don't you? ;) Please stay tuned for K-2's upcoming book! - Ms. Natalie |
