We will also be working with different modes of communication and literacy during Literacy class. Students will be introduced to a variety of ways they can build and develop knowledge and literacy.
What is Literacy?
This is why I bring different modes of literacy into my classroom: digital (computers, iPads, the internet), print (books, postcards, letters), and the arts (music, dance, paintings, drawings, sculptures).
Why is Literacy Important?

The changes that language learning has undergone over the course of history is staggering. The past decade alone has seen students’ literacy repertoire extend beyond the traditional pillars of reading, comprehension, grammar and writing, to include digital and interactive applications. With today’s learners faced with a myriad of traditional and digital literacies, how can we as parents and teachers ensure that our children develop the skills to effectively navigate and decipher the constant information stream that surrounds them?
