K-2: Sight Words
We are serious about reading this week in K-2. I wrote the Sight Words we've covered (so far) on the whiteboard and quizzed the students on their Sight Words knowledge. I've been using this method to teach Sight Words for a few weeks now and have found it very effective! By using this method, students are learning how to read by relying on their knowledge of letter sounds as opposed to using pictures/illustrations as cues to the story. The kids are making great progress and I'm sure that they will continue to grow as strong readers this year. I can't stop feeling so proud of them! :) My homeroom students also read "Dogs" this week. Our Sight Words of the Week are: My, Dog. |
