Welcome back to another exciting school year! It is a pleasure for me to be working with you this quarter. To help our students re-adjust to the routine of school, I have introduced some fun learning themes and activities for this very busy yet fun-filled week. You can check out some of the highlights from our Reading and Phonics classes. I wish you all a wonderful Friday and weekend!
Love,
Ms. Natalie

Pre-K & K-3: Reading is Fun! |
| In the Pre-K and K-3 classes, we have dived straight right into reading. However, the two classes approach reading differently. Our Pre-K students are introduced to short and easy books that focus more on the senses. I have used two touch-and-feel books about Kangaroos and Koalas since we are focusing on the Letter K this week. Without a doubt, our little curious Pre-K students loved the books and have asked to look at the books over and over again. The students have also learned about the different body parts from this week's lessons. It is important to help little ones develop a love for books because this will make them avid readers who love reading. This is our biggest goal for this school year: all of our students should love to read. The K-3 class approached reading with the purpose of becoming fluent readers. As this is their last year at SBI, it is important for students to become strong readers in order to succeed academically. The book I have chosen for our K-3 Reading class is titled "Run!", a book about a group of zoo animals having a pool party in the jungle. The students loved it and interesting conversations followed after our reading exercises. |
